The UK To Host PUBG Mobile Global Championship In 2024.
(CTN News) – The PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2024 has been announced by PUBG Mobile Esports to be held in the United Kingdom.
The tournament is set to commence in November, with the Grand Finals scheduled for December. With a prize pool of $3m (~£2.38m), the exact location for the finals is yet to be disclosed.
This event will mark the first time a major PUBG Mobile esports tournament has taken place in the UK since 2018, making it a significant milestone for the region.
The specific venue within the UK will be announced at a later date. As the pinnacle tournament in the PUBG esports calendar, the PMGC includes regional championships in Southeast Asia, South Asia, MENA, Americas, and Europe, offering qualifying opportunities for participants.
In addition, Brazil will host the inaugural edition of the new global PUBG Mobile Global Open (PMGO) event next year. The event is scheduled to take place from March to April 2024 and will feature a prize pool of $500,000 (~£397,000).
Furthermore, PUBG Mobile Esports has announced that the PUBG World Invitational (PMWI), a midseason tournament, will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the current PUBG Mobile Global Championship, which is being held in Istanbul, Turkey, from today until December 10th.
Previous editions of the PUBG Mobile Championship have garnered impressive viewership.
The 2022 Global Championship attracted over 850,000 peak viewers, and 273,000 average viewers, and accumulated 27 million hours of watch time across 100 hours of broadcast, according to Esports Charts, a viewership data platform.
The UK has been witnessing an increase in the number of esports tournaments recently, with events in games like League of Legends, Apex Legends, Rocket League, and others.
