Watching The Game Awards (And What To Expect)

(CTN News) – Geoff Keighley’s Happy Holiday Game-a-palooza, also referred to as The Game Awards (although that is less enjoyable), commences on Thursday, December 7th, at 7:30 PM ET / 4:30 PM PT.

The Game Awards show can be streamed on various platforms that support live events. The lineup of participating platforms is quite impressive. It includes popular options like Twitch and YouTube. TikTok will also be featuring the event, as well as X / Twitter (although the viewing quality will be limited to 720p).

Additionally, platforms such as Kick, Instagram Live, and even Google Play (yes, seriously) will be available for streaming.

No matter where you choose to watch, your experience of The Game Awards will remind you of Mr. Keighley’s summertime Game-a-palooza, Opening Night Live.

The show will feature numerous game advertisements, occasional award presentations, frequent appearances of the words “World Premiere” on the screen, and Geoff’s interactions with his gaming buddies. And who knows, Hideo Kojima might even make a surprise appearance with a steel chair!

Xbox is expected to make a comeback this year after being absent last year, promising “major announcements.” This will undoubtedly include the announcement of the release date for the Xbox version The Game Awards of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Hopefully, we will also get to know the early access release date for Hades II. My colleague at Verge, Jay Peters, remains hopeful that Silksong will finally break free from its cycle of delays, while I am quite certain that Final Fantasy XVI will stealthily drop its already-teased DLC.

This year’s Game Awards have higher expectations due to the quality of games released in 2023, but it has been a challenging year for the industry with many layoffs.

Geoff Keighley, a respected figure in the gaming community, is expected to acknowledge these hardships. There is also pressure for him to address the Israel-Hamas conflict, as a group of Future Class members have called for support of Palestinian human rights and a ceasefire.

Regardless of Keighley’s decision, the 2023 Game Awards will be heavily discussed.

Make sure to watch The Game Awards on Thursday, December 7th, at 7:30 PM ET / 4:30 PM PT on various platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, and other streaming services.
