Pakistan Team Wins Its 500th ODI Against New Zealand

(CTN News) – On Thursday at Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium, Pakistan secured their 500th one-day international (ODI) victory by defeating New Zealand by five wickets to register their 500th test match victory.

This feat has now been achieved by the Men in Green, becoming the third team in the world to accomplish this feat. As a result of playing 949 matches in 50-over format, the Green Shirts have achieved this milestone.

As a result of 92 ODIs, Pakistan has won 92 of them, against Sri Lanka, 73 of them against India, 63 of them against the West Indies, 57 of them against New Zealand, 54 of them against Zimbabwe, 34 of them against Australia, and 32 against England and Bangladesh each.

There have been 594 50-over matches won by Australia in 978 games, while India have won 539 51-over matches in 1,029 games, whereas Pakistan have won 593 50-over matches in 978 games.

Azam Babar’s feats are among the best in history

While the top ODI batsman in the world – Babar Azam – also achieved another international feat during the fixture, he also reached his 12,000th run as an international cricketer during the fixture.

He took 277 innings in order to accomplish this feat, making him the fastest Pakistani batter and the second-fastest Asian batter in history. There are only six people in the world who have reached this level as fast as he has.

Sir Vivian Richards is known as the fastest batter to score 12,000 runs in international cricket history. During the course of 255 innings, he achieved this milestone.

Babar had previously been the fastest Asian to score 10,000 runs in international cricket and then he also scored 11,000 runs in international cricket.

During his international cricket career, Babar has scored 12,000 runs, becoming the eighth Pakistani batter to do so. Before Inzamam-ul-Haq crossed 12,000 runs, he had been followed by Younis Khan (11790), Mohammad Yousaf (17134), Javed Miandad (16213), Saleem Malik (12,938), Saeed Anwar (12876), and Mohammad Hafeez (12880).

Records of Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah of Pakistan broke the world record for the most wickets taken in an ODI after just six matches into his career.

With two wickets taken in the first ODI against New Zealand, Naseem has clinched 20 wickets in six ODI matches so far this year.

As previously mentioned, New Zealand’s Matt Henry held the record for most wickets taken in a season with 19 wickets in six matches.

As New Zealand set Pakistan a target of 289 runs, Shah registered impressive figures of 2-29 in 10 overs as Pakistan was set a target of 289 runs.
