The Legend Of Zelda Movie Is Coming After Mario's Success; Shares Are Up 6%

(CTN News) – This week, Nintendo announced that it plans to produce a live-action film based on the Legend of Zelda, one of its most popular characters, in an attempt to repeat the success of the recent Mario movie.

Among the producers of the Zelda, film will be Shigeru Miyamoto, who is the creator of the Zelda series, as well as Avi Arad, who is the chairman of Arad Productions Inc., which has produced a number of Marvel films in the past, including Avatar and Iron Man.

To encourage users to purchase the Switch gaming console, Nintendo plans to leverage its strong bank of recognizable characters in areas such as movies.

According to the Japanese company, it is very likely that they have benefited from the success of “Super Mario Bros. 3D: The Movie,” which has generated more than $1 billion at the box office since its release in April of this year, and is expected to continue to grow.

Throughout the production of the film, Universal Studios worked closely with the production team to ensure that it was a success.

It has been over six years since the Nintendo Switch was introduced, and investors have been concerned that sales have peaked. In spite of this, many people were able to purchase the console and games due to the Mario film, which contributed to its success.

As a result of this factor, Nintendo increased its sales and profit forecast for the full year on Tuesday.

It will be Nintendo’s hope that the Zelda movie will be able to achieve similar success. Also, the company is looking forward to taking advantage of the recent release of “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”, which has sold more than 19 million units since its release in May.

Nintendo’s shares were up 6% in Japan on Wednesday, which suggests that investors are hoping the same for the company.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Nintendo said that “by producing visual content based on Nintendo IP (intellectual property), it is creating a new opportunity to allow people all over the world to have access to the world of entertainment which Nintendo has built through a variety of means other than its dedicated game consoles.”

As part of a joint venture with Sony Pictures, Nintendo will co-finance the Zelda film. It is expected that Nintendo will finance more than 50% of the movie, while Sony Pictures will be responsible for the theatrical distribution of the movie.

A film directed by Wes Ball will be released in the near future.
