Fortnite Chapter 3 Finale: What happened

(CTN News) – It came to an end with Fortnite Chapter 3. As usual, the existential threats proved to be very real, as The Herald swept through the loopers’ most recent island in a matter of seconds.

You don’t have to worry if you didn’t catch the Fortnite Chapter 3 finale event, as we’ve got all the details for you right here.

As Chapter 4 begins in a few hours, I encourage you to take advantage of that time to catch up on the story. I encourage you to join us as we look forward to discovering strange new terrain soon.

Event recap for Fortnite: Battle Royale

During the Fortnite Chapter 3 finale, a cinematic was released that kicked off the event. Chrome was continuing to spread across the island, and a band of resistance fighters took up arms atop the Reality Tree.

They fired an onslaught at The Herald to try and stop her march across their home. There was a moment when it appeared that we might have a chance of defeating the mysterious villain.

This was when the strange villain was splattered into tiny chrome pieces by a bevy of rockets. However, she quickly undid that hopefulness as she merged into the Chrome tidal wave and reformed into a gigantic version of herself.

Being a Kaiju-like creature, The Herald only had to swat away the resistance like gnats at a barbecue to defeat it.

As a result of her unceasing march, the heroes float away as chromified victims, and soon thereafter–and I must add, remarkably soon–the island was destroyed by the unstoppable force of the army.

It looked like The Herald had already won the game before any of the players could even lift a finger to help.

It was clear that The Paradigm had planned for all contingencies. With the help of the player and other loopers, she was quickly able to piece together a semblance of a safe zone.

This was part of a plan that she termed Zero Fusion. As a first step, she needed to heal and restore the Zero Point, which was something players were able to do themselves by completing a series of puzzles and mini-games during the game.

As the heroes re-tooled the Zero Point back into working order, little by little they re-tooled it back to its original state by finding Zero Point fragments, finishing time trials, and even accomplishing bounty missions by snowballing “enemies” in their lobby. They all contributed to restoring the life-giving force at the center of the makeshift world.

Due to the length of time it took to complete this process, this Fortnite event is the longest one yet. I think it’s fair to say that fan reactions to this strangely-paced event have been mixed, but outside of the story, it represents at least a bold departure direction for Fortnite’s normally scripted live shows, a concept it hasn’t veered from in the past.

Approximately 30 minutes after beginning the restoration process, the project was completed. The Paradigm was able to piece together fragments of what seemed to be all three past islands, along with some entirely original elements.

Ultimately, the outcome is the Chapter 4 map, which we have a glimpse of below, but a closer look will be coming soon, so stay tuned.

This chapter seems to look like it will fulfill the major Fortnite promises we’ve seen with every new chapter of the game so far.

As teases like Geralt of Rivia, The Incredible Hulk, and Doomslayer all appear in the final moments, Chapter 4 looks like it will deliver on those promises: exciting new collaborations, a completely new world waiting to be explored, and plenty more mysteries waiting to be discovered.

We are just hours away from the end of Chapter 3 and the beginning of Chapter 4. Let’s see each other on the other side!
