NBA Playoffs Are Set; Here Is Who Will Face The Lakers And Clippers

(CTN News) – In the NBA, Sunday marked the final day of the regular season, and many teams aren’t sure what their playoff fate will be.

It was a big day for California’s NBA teams on Sunday.

Golden State Warriors beat Portland Trail Blazers by 157 to 101. Among the starters, Stephen Curry had 26 points and Klay Thompson had 20. He’s only the third NBA player to make 300 three-pointers in a single season after Sixers guard James Harden and Curry, who has done it four times.

In the NBA’s Western Conference playoffs, Golden State secured the 6th seed with their win over the Blazers.

A short drive awaits the Warriors in the playoffs when they face the 3rd-seeded Sacramento Kings.

Despite sharing the same division as Curry, LeBron James, and (now) Kevin Durant, the upstart Kings won 48 games to make their first playoff appearance in 16 seasons.

Sacramento hosts the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. ABC will show that game.

In the first round of the NBA Playoffs, Northern California will face off against Southern California, but their quest for the Larry O’Brien trophy will look different.

Los Angeles Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns on Sunday, securing the 5th seed in the Western Conference Playoffs. After beating Phoenix 119-114, the Clippers secured a spot in the upper half of the playoff bracket, and avoided playing in the Play-In.

Every extra day of rest will be critical for this team, which is missing swingman Paul George. George has been out with a right knee injury and was supposed to be reassessed at the end of the regular season, but it’s unclear if he’s ready for Phoenix.

Clippers face new-look Suns in the series, who have home court advantage. Durant hasn’t lost a game in which he plays (8-0).

Clippers-Suns series begins Sunday, April 16, although time hasn’t been announced.

Los Angeles’ cross-arena rival Los Angeles Lakers didn’t escape the NBA’s Play-In Tournament.

As a result of their win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday, the Lakers secured the 7th seed in the Western Conference playoffs and a spot in the NBA’s Play-In Tournament – which can be both physically and mentally draining.

On Tuesday night, the Lakers will play the 8th-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves. As the 7th seed, the Lakers will advance to the playoffs if they win.

If they lose, the Wolves get the 7th seed, and the Lakers play the winner of the 9-10 game. When the Lakers win that game, they’ll be the 8th seed in the playoffs – if they lose, it’s over.

As the host team for the Play-In, the Lakers will have the luxury of hosting both games.

Depending on how the tournament goes, the Lakers and LeBron James will face either the No. 1 seed Denver Nuggets or the No. 2 seed Memphis Grizzlies. When the Lakers make the playoffs, they’ll open against either team on Sunday, April 16.

What is the format for the NBA playoffs 2023?

The field for the 2023 NBA playoffs is set. Winner advances as the No. 7 seed; loser plays the winner of Raptors-Bulls for the No. 8 seed on April 14. Winner advances to an elimination game vs. the loser of Heat-Hawks for the No. 8 seed on April 14; loser is eliminated from the play-in tournament.
