Manchester City Overcome Everton With Haaland’s Record
(CTN News) – Against Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, Erling Haaland led Manchester City to a 2-0 victory, continuing their march towards a fourth consecutive Premier League title.
City ended the game with a 2-1 victory after Haaland, who returned from a long injury, broke the deadlock in the 70th minute and doubled his side’s lead in the 85th minute.
During his first 50 starts in the Manchester City Premier League, the Norwegian striker scored 51 goals, more than any other player.
As expected, Manchester City dominated the game with more possession. However, they had to work very hard to find Jordan Pickford’s goal due to the hosts’ strong defense.
Pep Guardiola’s squad won their sixth consecutive match in the Premier League. Conversely, Everton has not won in its last seven league matches.
Guardiola praised his players for stepping up during a challenging match after the match and was satisfied with his team’s performance.
It is an important accomplishment for me. I enjoy winning these types of games very much – the difficulty is there, we all knew it, we discussed suffering and the difficulty of every situation.
Manchester City must remember that nothing is granted, and the manner in which they celebrated their goals illustrates how difficult it was for them to achieve them,” Guardiola stated.
“There is no doubt about it, Erling and Kevin make our squad stronger, there is no doubt about it.” The squad will travel to Copenhagen for Tuesday’s first leg of the Champions League.
The Manchester City team currently ranks second in the Premier League with 52 points from 23 games, one point behind Liverpool, who lead the table. If Guardiola’s team wins the remaining game, they will reach the summit of the table.
