Coronation Street Star Joseph Wandera Dies at 27
Joseph Wandera, 27 years old and former Coronation Street star, has died. According to an inquest, he fell ill in Costa Rica in January.
The Manchester-born star was in Costa Rica at that time with his friends. Inquests into his death were opened today at Rochdale Coroners’ Court. On the night of his death, the young actor was staying at Villa Verde One in Tamarindo.
According to Coroner Kathy Dixon, Joseph Wandera contacted his girlfriend while at a party and explained that he wasn’t feeling well.
“He lost sight in one eye and sensation on the left side of his body. He called a friend, who picked him up. Then she continued, “Joseph Wandera went to sleep on the sofa.”. Joseph had a seizure on the sofa a few hours later, according to the friend. “Medics were called but were unable to revive him, and he sadly passed away.”
After performing at the Manchester Fringe Festival in 2012, Joseph Wandera was starting out on screen. In addition to this, he had acted in Inside Out, Scott & Bailey, and Moving On. Fans may remember him from an episode of Corrie in 2018. Joseph Wandera was seen in a scene with Eileen Grimshaw (played by Sue Cleaver).
After viewing her car, he approaches her and asks for a selfie. The star had said of his cameo on Twitter: “Overwhelmed with support.”.

“There will be more coming this year.” Following the news of his death, DNA Acting Class told the MEN that he “embodied everything we stand for and transcended everyone’s belief in themselves.”
