The Lakers' Structured Offense Greatly Benefits Anthony Davis.

(CTN News) – Before the start of the Lakers’ quarterfinal matchup against the Phoenix Suns in the In-Season Tournament, Anthony Davis was experiencing a remarkable offensive streak.

In the five games leading up to the game at Crypto.com Arena, Davis had been averaging an impressive 27 points on a shooting percentage of 56.2%. Additionally, he contributed 13.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists during this period.

Coach Darvin Ham attributed Davis’ scoring success to the Lakers’ improved offensive organization and their ability to execute more structured plays.

“Our analytical department fully supports these numbers,” stated Ham before the game.

Our scoring improves when we engage in strategic organization, flawlessly execute our plays, and maintain a slightly reduced pace.

Of course, we still aim to play fast and freely, but Lakers sometimes it’s beneficial to slow down and focus on executing our plays effectively.”

In recent weeks, Davis has significantly increased his involvement in the game, particularly in the elbow area. Over the past five games, he has averaged six touches at the elbows, resulting in 3.2 field goal attempts. This is a notable improvement compared to his first 15 games, where he averaged 4.1 elbow touches.

The Lakers have been performing well in the tournament, securing victories against the Suns, Grizzlies, Trail Blazers, and Jazz, which has allowed them to advance to the quarterfinals.

They have expressed their appreciation for this league-wide competition, indicating that it has been a positive addition to the season.

Considering the success of this tournament, it appears that it will continue in future seasons. However, it is worth pondering how it can be further enhanced for upcoming iterations.

Ham hasn’t thought about the games yet, but he believes he will once he reflects on them. He is currently focused on the tournament and believes it requires careful consideration.

The Lakers are motivated to win by the prize money. Suns coach Vogel didn’t explicitly mention the prize money, but he acknowledged discussing it with his team. They have talked about how the financial rewards can benefit everyone on their roster. The importance of the game has been a fun topic of discussion among the team.
