(CTN News) – Taylor Fritz of the United States will face world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Australian Open after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece for the first time.
It was Taylor Fritz’s first win over a top-10 opponent in a grand slam. He beat Tsitsipas 7-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the fourth round on Sunday.
The defending champion, who is seeking an unprecedented 11th men’s singles title at Melbourne Park, triumphed emphatically over France’s Adrian Mannarino in the quarter-finals.
Serbs did not drop a game until the third set, prevailing 6-0, 6-0, 6-3.

Fritz has yet to win a match against Djokovic in eight prior meetings.
In terms of the 26-year-old’s record against the 24-time grand slam champion, he is 0-8 against him, including a five-set defeat in the third round of the Australian Open in 2021.
When Djokovic and Fritz met last, in 2023, at Flushing Meadows, Djokovic won the singles title for the fourth time in a row in straight sets, which marked his fourth US Open title at the time.
