Japan vs Costa Rica: Who Is The Referee?
(CTN News) – It will be Japan vs Costa Rica in Group B of the World Cup on Sunday, with the kickoff set for 5 a.m. ET on FS1 at Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium in Ar-Rayyan at 5 a.m. ET.
According to Draft Kings Sportsbook, Japan is the -225 favorite to win the World Cup, whereas Costa Rica is the -700 underdog. It has been decided that +340 will be used as the draw point.
Michael Oliver will serve as the referee for this match, who will be led by an all-English crew, with an all-English crew officiating the match.
The two assistants will be Stuart Burt and Simon Peter Bennett. In spite of the fact that Oliver is refereeing his first World Cup match, he has extensive experience at the highest levels of the game. As a referee, he has referred 12 Premier League matches so far this year.
He has issued 39 yellow cards, a red card, and awarded five penalty shots during that timeframe. As a referee, he has overseen four UEFA Champions League matches over the past three months, issuing 20 yellow cards and three penalty kicks during that period.
On the other hand, Costa Rica suffered a horrendous 7-0 beating at the hands of Spain, as Japan stunned Germany in the opening game.
In the event that Japan pulls off a win on Thursday, they won’t be able to clinch a berth in the knockout stage. However, they will be in a confident position heading into next week’s final match against Spain.

Is Japan good in football?
Japan did not qualify for its first FIFA World Cup until the 1998 tournament in France and has since become an Asian power, reaching seven consecutive World Cups. The Samurai Blue finished 31st in France in but have improved over the years.
