Lakers Interested In Trading Collin Sexton For Jazz G

(CTN News) – There have been numerous rumors connecting the Los Angeles Lakers to several names around the league as we approach the NBA trade deadline. This is the perfect time for LA to make a move, regardless of the price.

A Utah Jazz player who has been productive this season seems like a possible target for the Lakers.

A report from Robert Marvi of USA Today suggests the Lakers may be interested in Jazz guard Collin Sexton ahead of the trade deadline on February 8th.

Dejounte Murray and Tyus Jones are also reportedly being considered by Los Angeles to fill out the guard depth behind Sexton.

While the Lakers may have interest in Sexton, it’s pretty obvious why: he’s really good. As this team’s secondary offensive option during their recent winning streak, Collin has been lights out since being promoted to a nightly starter.

On 52.2/41.5/90.8 efficiency, Sexton averages 21.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 18 games as a starter.

Sexton’s acquisition might provide the Lakers with a go-to perimeter scorer who can help fill some huge holes in their lineup. In any case, LA might not be able to come up with a realistic offer to acquire him, given the assets they already own.

As a result of his team-friendly contract, he has the highest value of any player in the league. Additionally, he has been credited with a great stretch of winning basketball.

In order to entice Sexton away from Salt Lake City, Los Angeles would need to make a very appealing offer, and it is unlikely that they would be able to do so. The team’s pool of draft picks is less than stellar, and it does not possess a significant amount of young talent.

Jazz continue to climb Western Conference standings despite their six-game winning streak. Utah’s chances of becoming a massive seller in the coming weeks will continue to diminish.

The Lakers have a 21-21 record for 10th in the West, so you should see them pull the trigger on some deadline acquisition as a market buyer. For Utah, however, don’t hold your breath for Sexton to represent the purple and gold any time soon.
