Lakers Critic Darvin Ham Blasts Rumors, Losing Streak: 'It's ludicrous'

(CTN News) – Darvin Ham, the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, has addressed the rumors surrounding his job security in light of the team’s recent losses.

After their defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies, Ham expressed his astonishment at the level of scrutiny each game receives, describing it as “ridiculous” that people invest so much in the team’s performance.

The Lakers have been going through a tough period,

Losing four consecutive games and 10 out of their last 13 since winning the NBA In-Season Tournament. Their current record stands at 17-19, which is the first time they have fallen two games below .500 since November 8.

While it is unusual for a head coach to make such comments, Ham remains confident in his position. He revealed that Lakers governor Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka continue to offer their support.

In fact, a high-ranking Lakers official has dismissed the idea that Ham is in danger of being fired, according to a report by The Athletic’s Sam Amick.

Despite the increasing pressure, Ham firmly believes that he has the full backing of the organization. Although there are currently no immediate plans to fire Ham, speculation surrounding the Lakers head coach and players suggests that something is amiss.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Jovan Buha, six reliable sources familiar with the situation have indicated that there is a growing disconnect between Ham and the team in the locker room.

Charania and Buha further explain that the coach’s excessive rotation and frequent adjustments to the starting lineup have contributed to a lack of unity among the players, resulting in inconsistent performances across the roster.

However, there is a glimmer of hope for Ham based on his recent track record. In his first season, the team struggled with a dismal 2-10 record in the first 12 games, only achieving a winning record in the 77th game (39-38).

Despite these challenges, the Lakers managed to gain momentum and reach the Western Conference Finals, although they were ultimately swept by the Denver Nuggets. To boost the team’s confidence, it is crucial for them to show signs of improvement, particularly by winning consecutive games, which they have not accomplished since their four-game winning streak from December 2nd to 9th.

Looking ahead, the Lakers will have a home game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
