(CTN News) – The voice actors who will replace Justin Roiland on the hit sitcom “Rick and Morty” have finally been unveiled.
As of right now, Ian Cardoni is the new voice of Rick Sanchez, and Harry Belden is the voice of Morty Smith. In the credits of the Season 7 premiere of Sunday night’s show, their names appeared in the list of cast members.
There was no mention of the usual “Created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon” at the beginning of the film, only the logo of the popular animated series “Rick and Morty”.
In September, the Season 7 trailer, which introduced the new voices for the characters, was released on Adult Swim, but Adult Swim would not reveal who was behind those voices.
There was no credit at the end of the “Rick and Morty” trailers released before the season premiere, and while representatives for the show said that they would reveal the voice actors’ names under embargo before the Season 7 premiere on October 15, they did not follow through on that promise.
In response, Adult Swim reneged on its promise Friday, saying in an email, “We will continue to keep the names of the new voice cast members confidential until Sunday night’s east coast premiere.”
As a result of a domestic violence charge filed against Roiland in January, Adult Swim fired him from the show.
It was revealed in March that the Orange County District Attorney’s Office later dismissed the charge against him because he was the co-creator of “Rick and Morty” with Dan Harmon, in addition to voicing several other characters on the show.
According to NBC, a report published in September stated that Roiland had for years used his fame in order to lure and meet young women, some of whom were underage, and to hook up with them.
There were allegations that Roiland sexually assaulted one of the women; through his attorney, he has denied the claims made against him.
In “Rick and Morty,” we follow the titular grandfather-grandson duo as they travel through the universe together. The logline for the upcoming season of Rick and Morty pokes fun at the new voices in addition to the trailer:
“Rick and Morty are back and sounding more like themselves than ever,” the summary of the show notes. ‘Season seven is upon us, and the possibilities are endless.
What’s going on with Jerry?’ It’s the EVIL summer, isn’t it? Will they ever be able to return to the high school where they once attended?
There is a possibility that this may not be the case! Let’s find out what the answer is! The piss level probably isn’t as high as it was last year. The 100th anniversary of ‘Rick and Morty’! Until the end of season 10 at least!
Since its premiere in 2013, “Rick and Morty” has received critical acclaim. A total of 10 new episodes will be included in Season 7, which premieres on Adult Swim on October 15.
Additionally, Roiland co-created and starred in Hulu’s animated comedy series Solar Opposites. Dan Stevens will replace Roiland as the voice of the series’ lead character Korvo.
