Introducing Xiaomi’s New Photo-Friendly 14 Series Smartphone
(CTN News) – On Sunday, Chinese consumer electronics giant Xiaomi released a raft of new wearable devices as well as a new AI-enhanced and photography-focused 14 Series smartphone for international markets.
A statement from Xiaomi, which announced the new 14 Ultra phone, says that it has a quad-camera configuration, whereas the more compact Xiaomi 14, has a triple-camera configuration. Both phones extend on the company’s partnership with German camera-maker Leica.
It looks like the phones will be integrating large AI models into a variety of applications. There will be a tool that will enable users to transcribe conferences in real-time, or another feature that will allow users to describe a photo and allow the AI to locate it in their gallery.
A number of tech and telecom companies are releasing new products and features ahead of the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) that will kick off in Barcelona on Monday, hoping the buzz around artificial intelligence (AI) will boost their business prospects, but many experts claim that the use of generative AI could raise legal or ethical concerns as well.
It has been estimated by IDC that ranked third last year in terms of share of the smartphone market globally, representing 12.5% of global shipments, behind market leader Apple at 20.1% and Samsung in second place with 19.4% market share.
In addition on Sunday, Xiaomi announced a new line of wearable products, including the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, Xiaomi Watch S3, and Watch 2, which the company claims to be suitable for sports, health, and wellness activities.
