The Pistons’ Season Incompetence Is Shown By One Statistic.
(CTN News) – The Pistons currently hold the worst record in the NBA with a disappointing 2-16. Their recent loss to the Lakers by a score of 133-107 has extended their losing streak to 15 games, which is now a franchise record for consecutive losses.
Leading the charge for the Lakers was D’Angelo Russell, who had an impressive season-high of 35 points. Anthony Davis also contributed with 28 points, while LeBron James scored 25 points.
Speaking of LeBron James, his total points in the Lakers’ 11 wins this season now stands at 259. Although this may seem like a random statistic, it highlights his role as the team’s leading scorer, averaging 25.1 points per game. However, this places him only 16th among the current NBA’s scoring leaders.
Additionally, the Lakers’ 11 wins are tied with four other teams for the fourth-highest total at this stage of the season.
Why is it important to highlight the number of points James has scored in the Lakers’ victories so far? It’s worth noting that those 259 points surpass the total points scored by the Pistons in their wins this season, as pointed out by StatMuse on X (formerly Twitter).
It’s important to consider that Detroit has only won two games this season, which means there haven’t been many opportunities to increase their point total.
However, showcasing that James has outscored the Pistons in his team’s wins this season serves as a clear example of how poorly Detroit has performed.
While the Pistons weren’t expected to be contenders in the Eastern Conference this season, there was some hope that they could compete for a spot in the NBA play-in tournament. Unfortunately, it seems that Detroit will end up with one of the top picks in the draft.
The Pistons will make an attempt to put an end to their 15-game losing streak and secure a victory in November this Thursday at Madison Square Garden, where they will face off against the Knicks.
