ICC announced Prize Money for ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle

(CTN News) –  The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed that the World Test Championship 2021–2023 cycle will have a total reward of $3.8 million, split among the nine competing teams.

Beginning on June 7, the Ultimate Test between Australia and India will take place at The Oval in London. The victorious side will carry more than only the WTC mace back to their respective countries.

The ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 will have a staggering prize pool of $1.6 million, with $800,000 going to the runners-up. The winner of the tournament would take home the whole reward pool.

Prize money for the World Test Championship 2021–2023 will not be increasing

The prize money for the tournament will not be increasing and will be at the same level as it was for the first championship in 2019-21, which had a total purse of $3.8 million. Prize money is unchanged.

After securing an eight-wicket victory over India in the rain-marred six-day WTC final, New Zealand’s team, captained by Kane Williamson, was awarded $1.6 million in Southampton in 2021. The match took place in 2021.

ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 standings

South Africa earned a total of $450,00 for finishing in third place in the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 standings. Each of the nine teams will receive a portion of the total prize pool of $3.8 million.

Because England finished their campaign in fourth place overall, they will be awarded the prize money of $350,000 because they made a late push and moved up in the standings.

During the thrilling conclusion, Sri Lanka, which was one of the top teams in the competition for a position in the decider, came in fifth place and earned $200,000.

The remaining four teams, New Zealand (ranked sixth), Pakistan (ranked seventh), West Indies (ranked eighth), and Bangladesh (ranked ninth), will each be awarded a sum of one hundred thousand dollars.
