COACHELLA: BLINK-182 Performs With TOM DELONGE For First Time In Nine Years

(CTN News) – In Indio, California, on Friday (April 14), BLINK-182 played their first reunion concert with Tom DeLonge as part of the Coachella festival for the first time.

During the 50-minute performance, DeLonge, Travis Barker, and Mark Hoppus were sharing the stage together for the first time since 2014 when they performed publicly together for the first time.

Currently, BLINK-182 is a last-minute addition to Coachella, having been announced by Tom DeLonge a day earlier (April 13) than the actual festival.

It was the first time the pop-punk band played in the Sahara Tent, which is normally reserved for EDM concerts.

A reunion tour was supposed to begin in March in Mexico and South America, but BLINK-182 was forced to postpone the dates after frontman Travis Barker injured his finger during rehearsals.

The band kicked off their Coachella set with “Family Reunion” and also played classics such as “Anthem Pt.2”, “Feeling This”, “What’s My Age Again?”, “The Rock Show”, “I Miss You” and “All The Small Things”. It was also the band’s first time performing the song “Edging,” which was released just a couple of weeks ago, live.

As part of BLINK-182’s North American reunion tour, TURNSTILE will assist the group on its North American leg, which launches in May and runs through July.

In spite of their humble beginnings nearly thirty years ago, when they began playing in a San Diego garage, BLINK-182 have sold over fifty-million albums worldwide and have rocked thousands of audiences around the world and have become one of the most influential rock bands of their generation.

A New York Times article stated that “No punk band of the 1990s has had more impact on music than BLINK-182.”

From the release of the group’s debut album in 1995 to the release of its third album in 2003, “Untitled”, DeLonge was a member of BLINK-182. It was then in 2011 when he rejoined the group for the production of the LP “Neighborhoods”, before he left the band once again in 2015.

On two of BLINK-182’s most recent albums, 2016’s “California” and 2019’s “Nine”, Matt Skiba was featured as a member of ALKALINE TRIO.

After ANGELS & AIRWAVES had been Tom’s main focus over the last few years, he was reunited with Mark in 2021 after the latter had successfully beaten cancer. The singer has collaborated with a number of musicians and is married to Kourtney Kardashian.

Currently, the world tour is scheduled to resume in May with a show at New York’s Madison Square Garden on May 19 taking place as part of the tour.
