Microsoft Launches a Wide Range Of AI Products Including ChatGPT And Bing

(CTN News) – Among the latest AI upgrades Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) has made available to its users is ChatGPT, the company’s search engine Bing, as well as cloud-based services. This is intended to narrow the gap between rival Alphabet Inc’s (GOOGL.O) Google and its own.

One of the key changes is the launch of live search results from Bing on ChatGPT, the viral chatbot developed by Bing’s partner OpenAI, whose answers were initially limited to information as of 2021.

The company said at its annual Microsoft Build conference that ChatGPT can now pull results from Bing web results for paid subscribers and that they will be able to do so soon for free users as well.

Furthermore, Bing is also expanding its so-called plug-ins for Bing, using a standard embraced by OpenAI to allow businesses to interact with consumers in its search engine more easily.

For example, one of these tools would be able to provide a web surfer looking for dinner ideas with a suggested recipe and ingredients that could be ordered from Instacart in just one click with a single click, Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s chief marketing officer for consumer products.

As he said in an interview, it will be a huge change to the way in which people use the internet in the future.

According to Mehdi, when asked if Microsoft could sell advertising placements related to its plug-ins, the company has not reached that point yet, but that “the business model for the way people acquire customers is changing as well.”.

Microsoft has made significant updates to its search engine Bing as part of its effort to capture more of the estimated $286 billion market for search advertising around the world.

A number of companies have recently showcased generative AI upgrades for their search engines. Unlike Microsoft, Google’s search engine is learning from past data how to respond to open-ended questions that don’t have clear answers in the web.

Google has yet to roll out its updated search engine widely, so it remains unclear which updated search engine consumers prefer. The standalone competitor to ChatGPT, a chatbot known as Bard, is already available and includes answers derived from Google searches.

Asked if ChatGPT will replace Microsoft’s Bing now that it includes recent web information, Mehdi responded that the two programs offer different experiences. However, citings in ChatGPT are driving traffic to Bing in either case.

Businesses can now develop plug-ins connecting to Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft’s AI assistant for enterprises, via the new cloud services.

According to Microsoft,

A plug-in would enable staffers to ask the AI in plain language for assistance in booking travel or explaining legal issues concerning vendor contracts.

As part of its AI copilot program, Microsoft intends to enable companies to customize their own AI copilots.

The company will also offer an AI assistant, or copilot, as a preview starting in June to some users of its widely used Windows operating system.

The company also announced ways in which it is helping consumers determine whether an image or video was generated by its artificial intelligence, similar to a recent announcement made by Google.
