Gamestop Power Up Rewards Are Replaced With Something More Expensive

(CTN News) – Gamestop Power Up Rewards has long been a program used to help players bring down game costs.

As a result, Gamestop enticed players to come into the store and pick up new and used games by offering coupons on a monthly basis that could be used to get a few bucks off a new release or by using points accumulate to get “buy” discounts on certain games.

In recent years, the program has undergone several changes, and the latest change set to be rolled out later this year is going to result in the loss of some favorite features and an increase in the price of the program.

This news has come from the users over at ResetEra, a popular gaming forum that is very popular among gamers. According to their research, they were able to find a number of tweets that revealed the new changes coming to Gamestop Power Up Rewards.

The first thing you will notice is that the program will now be called Gamestop Pro rather than Gamestop, which I am sure you will agree is a much better name.

There are a few other changes that might not be as welcomed as the rest.

This is a big deal as it means that there is going to be a price increase of $25 per year. On the other hand, that is offset by the fact that users will be able to get 5% off on all pre-owned products, along with extras such as trading cards, product protection plans, and other things.

As far as I can tell, however, the listings shown state that you can’t use that discount on gift cards, which is something that many users were doing before.

You could use your Power Up Rewards card to take $5 off the purchase price of a $100 gift card if you bought it using your Power Up Rewards card.

There is some indication that users might still be able to do that in the ResetEra thread, but it’s not immediately clear if that is still the case or not.

Either way, the price hikes don’t stop there, as it will appear that free shipping will only be available if you spend over $80 on your order.

There are some games available that cost at least $10 more than the average new game nowadays, so if you want to get free shipping, you’ll have to add something else to the order in order to get it.

As a whole, it looks like a change mostly for the worse, unless you’re planning to make up the difference by buying a ton of Pokémon cards from Gamestop to make up for the difference.

It is expected that the new program will start on June 27, 2023, and that users will have until December 1, 2023 to use all of their points from the previous program before they expire.
