MG Comet EV India Debuts On April 19: What You Need To Know

(CTN News) – MG Motor India, the Indian subsidiary of MG, is expected to introduce its second all-EV offering to the Indian market within a short period of time.

The MG ZS EV was launched in January 2020, and the company will now be entering a new segment in the electric vehicle market with the Comet model, which is a small electric vehicle.

On April 19, 2023, the all-new Comet EV will make its official debut in India for the very first time. All you need to know about it can be found here.

Design and features of the MG Comet EV

MG Comet is an electric hatchback with three doors that will have a unique design that is unlike any other electric car available in India today.

There will be a length of 2,974 mm, a height of 1,631 mm, a width of 1,505 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,010 mm for the vehicle. In spite of the fact that the new Comet is intended to be the entry-level EV, it will still pack a lot of features.

As part of the features, it will get dual screens of 10.25 inches, a two-spoke steering wheel, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, and many more.

Battery, range, and performance of the MG Comet EV

The upcoming MG Comet EV is expected to be equipped with a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which will give the car a driving range of around 250 km on a single charge.

An electric motor will be mounted on the rear axle of the vehicle, which is expected to be powered by a single, 45 horsepower motor.

The battery will not be able to be recharged via DC, so juicing it up from 0 to 100 percent with a regular AC charger will take around 8.5 hours.

The price and competition of the MG Comet EV

There is no doubt that the MG Comet will be one of the most unique electric vehicles on the Indian market. Production for this product has already begun, and the prices are expected to be announced within a short period of time.

It is expected that the price of Comet will be below Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom. A direct competitor to the Tata Tiago EV, the Citroen eC3, and many others would be this vehicle.
