Man Kicked Off United Airlines Plane for Using Thong as a Face Mask
Florida authorities forced a passenger off a United Airlines flight Thursday after he insisted that wearing a red thong as a face mask was permissible, according to local media.
Adam Jenne, 38, was asked to leave the aircraft before it took off from Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
In an interview with local news channel NBC2, he told them he wanted to make people realize the absurdity of forcing passengers to wear masks on planes while allowing them to remove them to eat and drink during the flight.
As captured on video by another passenger, the crew told Jenne that if he kept the thong on, he could not stay on board. He finally left his seat after some discussion.
He told the crew that he had worn thong underwear as a face mask during previous United Airline flights and that the mask was “doing its job.”
In a statement, United Airlines said, “The customer clearly did not comply with the federal mask mandate, and we appreciate our team addressing the issue prior to takeoff, avoiding a potential flight disruption.”
LEAVE IT TO THE #FLORIDAMAN! This guy from Cape Coral tried wearing a #thong as a #mask on a United flight in Fort Lauderdale today. He was kicked off the plane. TSA and sheriff were called but passengers remained peaceful. #airtravel #Florida #aviation #travel pic.twitter.com/kUnkXrgTY8
