How Can WhatsApp Be Made More Secure And Private?

(CTN News) – The main reason why WhatsApp is one of the more popular apps when it comes to privacy is the fact that its top priority is keeping its users’ privacy and security secure as possible.

According to WaBetaInfo, the latest features the platform announced in an effort to add an extra layer of privacy to it include account protection, device verification, and automatic security codes.

Having these features in place would provide users with the ability to prevent unauthorized access to their accounts and protect their mobile devices from malware.

Among the features that will be added to the app in the coming months are those related to account security. It is anticipated that they will be made available to everyone in the near future.

It is worth noting that WhatsApp announced these new features while also emphasizing that end-to-end encrypted backups and two-step verification are important to ensure the safety of your account. There is the option for users to turn on or off these features themselves.

The new feature of account protection, which is a new addition to WhatsApp, is of great importance since it will prevent unauthorised attempts to move WhatsApp accounts from one device to another. This would prevent hackers from being able to access the accounts in the future.

The users will be required to verify their account from their old device before they are able to transfer it to the new device with the help of this feature.

Another feature of WhatsApp is device verification, which prevents mobile device malware from using someone’s WhatsApp account to send unwanted messages to people.

A leading app tracker reported that WhatsApp has recently added a feature that authenticates user accounts in order to protect them in case their device is compromised.

The third feature is called security codes. This feature is expected to make it easier for users to experience the whole verification process and make it more convenient for them to complete it.

During the encryption process, there would be a key transparency that would allow the user to automatically verify their secure connection when they click on the encryption tab and verify their connection.

Both Android and iOS versions of these features will be released in the near future. In the next few weeks, they may be available for some beta testers to try out.

According to Kevin Lewi, a research scientist at Meta, the messaging app has announced its plans to deploy key transparency as part of its upcoming update to its app in a Twitter thread.

There is no doubt that WhatsApp cares about the privacy of its users, adding that “we want to simultaneously monitor everything in a public, auditable way, while preserving privacy in all the way, such that nothing is exposed – including metadata such as how often different users update their keys.”.
