TikTok Reorganizes Its Trust And Safety Unit For Information Reports

(CTN News) – Short video app TikTok, owned by ByteDance, has replaced a number of senior executives, including its head of the trust and safety unit, which moderates content.

In a report published on Tuesday by The Information, a memo sent to company employees and interviews with people within the company were cited as evidence of what was going on.

It is reported by the Information that TikTok’s operations director Adam Presser, who reports directly to the company’s CEO Shou Zi Chew, has been assigned to lead the company’s trust and safety initiatives.

Chew testified to Congress alongside Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other members of the tech and media industry last month while prosecutors alleged that these companies were failing to protect children from escalating threats of sexual predation on their platforms by failing to the prevent them from doing so.

In response to questions from Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, the CEO of TikTok had announced that the company would spend more than $2 billion on efforts to improve the trust and safety of its users.

Reuters reported on Tuesday that TikTok had not responded to the news outlet’s request for comment on Tuesday, after being sent a request for comment by the news outlet.

Having just heard of the departure of Cormac Keenan, who had been responsible for the global trust and safety functions, in the Information report, it is reported that he was among the people leaving.
