OpenAI Faces Mass Employee Exodus Threat as Workers Demand Board Resignation

(CTN News) – The software business OpenAI, which developed the popular chatbot ChatGPT using artificial intelligence (AI), reportedly had a mass resignation threatened by its employees on November 20 in the event that the board of directors did not quit.

According to a letter that CNN acquired, 505 employees have informed the firm that they would be moving their operations to the new AI team at Microsoft, which will be led by former president Greg Brockman and OpenAI’s fired CEO Sam Altman.

Just hours after the board ousted Altman, Brockman left OpenAI on November 17.

“We are unable to work for or with people that lack competence, judgement and care for our mission and employees,” the news station quoted the letter as saying. Your inability to monitor OpenAI has been made clear by your conduct, it said.

Among those who have signed the letter is Mira Murati, who was named interim CEO after Altman left the company, and who is also the chief technology officer, according to the story.

Reportedly, the company’s chief scientist, Ilya Sutskever, has also signed the letter, expressing “deep regret” for his role in Altman’s dismissal.

Earlier in the day, Altman, Brockman, and their colleagues were announced to be joining Microsoft by CEO Satya Nadella.
