How Does WhatsApp's Privacy Checkup Feature Provide Security Control?

(CTN News) – WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular chat apps, has introduced a new feature called Privacy Checkup, which provides users with step-by-step instructions on how to set up their privacy preferences.

With this feature, users can control who contacts them, choose with whom they wish to share their personal information, regulate message access, and apply additional security measures.

In order to enhance its security protocols, the Meta-owned messaging app has introduced a Privacy Checkup feature for iOS and Android smartphones.

By enabling this feature, users are empowered to control their privacy and the app provides security while they use it.

During the announcement of this new feature, Meta wrote in a blog post that it will provide a step-by-step guide to help you navigate your way through important privacy settings, so you can choose the level of protection you prefer.

It is possible to use multiple layers of privacy to ensure your messages, calls, and personal information are protected. To start the checkup, click ‘Start the checkup’ in your Privacy settings.

According to the page explaining the new feature, Privacy Checkup provides step-by-step guidance on how to strengthen your account’s security, as well as customize your privacy settings, all in one place.

Recently, the chat app added a privacy feature that is simple to use.

On your iOS or Android device, open WhatsApp and navigate to the settings menu by tapping the gear icon. In this point, you will find the banner at the top of the screen indicating that you can start the privacy checkup by clicking on it.

In order to adjust the privacy settings, click on the specific option that you wish to adjust.

Here’s how to customize WhatsApp’s Privacy Checkup:

You may choose who can contact you

WhatsApp’s Privacy Checkup feature allows users to control who can contact them and prevent unwanted calls and messages.

In addition, they can manage blocked contacts and change who can add them to groups.

Maintain control over personal information

The user may also choose the audience with whom they would like to share personal information such as their online status and activities.

The user can control who can view their profile photo, control who can view their last seen and online status, and manage read receipts.

The default message timer

In order to limit access to their files and messages, users can control their end-to-end encrypted backups and default message timer.

Protection against fingerprints

Using WhatsApp’s two-step verification feature and fingerprint lock, users can further secure their accounts.
