Thai Police Raided an illegal Chinese Restaurant in Bangkok and Arrested 3 Chinese Workers

(CTN News) – Police detained three Chinese males after they conducted a raid on an illegal Chinese restaurant in Bangkok yesterday. They were punished, expelled, and added to Thailand’s list of undesirables.

Officers from the Immigration Bureau searched the Chaosan Osha Chinese eatery on Rama 9 Road in Bangkok’s Huay Kwang neighborhood.

Three Chinese people were discovered at the eatery, according to the officers. Yang, a 35-year-old man thought to be the owner, was detained while managing the restaurant’s finances.

The other two Chinese males, Chern and Chin, were employed in the establishment’s kitchen.

According to reports, they had tourist visas when they arrived in Thailand. Both the establishment and the employees lacked valid employment authorization.

The arrested men claimed that they only employed Chinese people when they founded the restaurant.

The three were accused of breaking the Working of Aliens Act, which stipulates that an immigrant who works without a permit faces up to five years in prison, a fine ranging from 2,000 to 100,000 baht, or both.

The three will not serve any jail time in Thailand, claims Khaosod. They will receive the court-determined fine, be deported, and have their names added to a national blacklist.

When the Thai owner of Among Mala Hotpot on Yaowarat Road questioned the growing number of companies and restaurants managed by Chinese, an investigation into enterprises run by foreigners—particularly Chinese—began.

The proprietor of a Thai restaurant inquired about the ease of obtaining permits and whether or not such firms were operating unlawfully while receiving a special exemption from the government.

Three illegal electronic trash warehouses were raided last week, and the Chaosan Osha Chinese restaurant was raided yesterday due to the matter going popular on Thai social media.

Thai internet users voiced their opinions about the searches and expressed their satisfaction with the Thai police for being proactive.

They also expressed their hope for additional raids on other dubious firms in the kingdom.
