Thai Man Arrested for Spycam Pornography Sales: 60,000 Files Seized

(CTN News) – A man was apprehended in the southern Thai province of Prachub KirKhan by Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau officers. He was found to have sixty thousand files of pornography, which he was accused of owning and selling.

The High-tech Crime Division’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received a complaint regarding the KingSpy Twitter account. To see the spycam porn, the account asked Twitter users to pay 150 baht to join a group on the LINE app with the same name.

With nearly 600 subscribers, the LINE account published several sexual videos shot using hidden cameras. Young children were among those seen as victims in the footage.

At his residence in Prachub Kiri Khan province on December 12, the 26-year-old Thai man Nattaporn was apprehended, who was named as the group’s administrator. Whether or not he recorded the obscene recordings is unknown, but he admitted to selling spycam pornography.

The two mobile phones that the officers examined revealed that he had used the suspended Twitter account, KingSpy, to log in. Therefore, Nattaporn made an account under the handle ID@CODE1380077 and invited his followers to join a group on LINE named LINE STICKER.

He had 62,773 spycam porn files—equivalent to around 1.4 terabytes—stored in the cloud, which he had accessed through an app called MEGA Cloud. A location was used to classify each file, such as a train, a market, a school restroom, a shopping centre restroom, etc.

The three charges against Nattapon are:

• The possession for sale or distribution of pornographic materials, drawings, publications, photos, ads, photographs, videos, or sound recordings is a crime under Criminal Law Section 287. A fine of up to sixty thousand baht (or three years in prison) is possible as a punishment.
• Possession of child pornography for one’s own or another’s sexual benefit is a crime punishable under Section 287(1) of the Criminal Code. A fine of up to 100,000 baht, five years in prison, or both may be imposed as a penalty.
• Introducing corrupted, incorrect, or distorted data into a computer system in a way that could harm the public is a violation of the Computer Act, specifically Section 14(4)(5). A fine of up to 100,000 baht, five years in prison, or both may be imposed as a penalty.
