422 875 Tesla Deliveries In First Quarter 2023

(CTN News) – Tesla released its first-quarter report on vehicle production and delivery. From the electric vehicle manufacturer, here are the key numbers:

The total number of deliveries for the first quarter of 2023 was 422,875. Q1 2023 total production: 440,808

Deliveries reflect Tesla’s closest estimate of sales, and they are not segmented by model or region.

Deliveries increased by 36% in the first quarter compared to 310,048 a year ago, and sequentially by 4% from 405,278 in the last quarter.

As part of the quarter, Tesla delivered 10,695 higher-end Model S and X vehicles, 2% of its total deliveries.

During the first quarter of 2016, Tesla delivered a total of 412,180 models of its Model 3 sedans and Model Y crossovers.

There are no numbers provided by the company regarding the production or delivery of heavy-duty semi trucks.

For the period ending March 31, 2023, produced 19,437 Model S and X vehicles and 421,371 Model 3 and Y vehicles.

“The company said in a statement that it has continued its transition toward a more evenly distributed regional mix of vehicle builds moving forward.

At present, Tesla sells four models,

Which are assembled at two factories in the US, one in Shanghai, and another outside of Berlin. The company announced its plans to build a new factory in Monterrey, Mexico, a day’s drive from its Austin factory, in March.

Also at its battery plant in Sparks, Nevada, the company produces the Semi heavy-duty truck. In December 2022, the company began delivering the Semi.

FactSet estimates that Tesla delivered around 432,000 vehicles for the quarter, based on a mean of estimates collected as of Friday. Among the estimates included in FactSet’s analysis, 410,000 to 451,000 deliveries were expected.

During the first quarter of 2023, Tesla repeatedly cut prices in the U.S., Europe, and China. An independent researcher known as TroyTeslike was expecting deliveries of 427,000 cars and production of 445,920.

With Tesla’s moves, there has been a “price war” in EVs, and Ford and General Motors are battling to gain marketshare in the fully electric vehicle segment.

Tesla shares rose more than 60% in the first quarter to close at $207.46 on Friday ahead of the production and deliveries report. (They closed at $123.18 on December 30th, the last day of trading in 2022.)
