(CTN News) – The billionaire owner and CTO of Elon Musk X, previously Twitter, responded the same evening: “You have given the real truth.” In another reply, he wrote: “I am deeply offended by ADL’s messaging and any other group that promotes de facto racism against whites, Asians, or any other kind of racism.”
Elon Musk threatened to sue the ADL for not accounting for hate speech on social media as a result of its feud with the ADL.Twitter had not responded as of press time.
According to Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, Musk’s endorsement of the antisemitic conspiracy is a “repudiation of human rights.”At a time when antisemitism is on the rise in American society, validating antisemitic theories is dangerous.
In his latest rant, Musk continued to complain about racial discrimination on Thursday morning. In the tweet, the following was written: “Everyone can be proud of their race, except white people. We’ve been brainwashed into believing that our history is somehow inferior and we need to destroy this false narrative.”.
Yes, this is a very messed up situation. Those who perpetuate these lies must be shamed!
Immediate and strong backlash followed the tweet both on and off X. Support for Musk erupted simultaneously with tweets condemning Musk’s reply as racist.
In reference to the infamous 2017 march by white supremacists at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, the watchdog publication MediaMatters headlined its story with “Elon Musk lights his tiki torch”, lambasting Musk in its essay titled “Elon Musk’s Disturbing ‘Truth’”.
Tesla and SpaceX CEOs made their statements during a time when antisemitic incidents have been escalating around the world and in the United States. The
Israel-Hamas conflict has resulted in an increase in both anti-Semitic and Islamophobic harassment levels in the UK and Australia by double-digits and triple-digits, respectively, as a result of the conflict.
The racial politics of Musk have been trending this way for several months. Elon Musk wrote last week when he responded to a tweet mourning the loss of a Confederate general’s statue: “They absolutely wish you were extinct.” After restoring @libsoftiktok to X, he wrote, “Racism against white people is the only kind of discrimination allowed.” We must put an end to it.
After Elon Musk took over Twitter in October 2022, he restored controversial conservative accounts while banning journalists and penalizing accounts critical of him. He has also attacked Wikipedia.
Under Musk’s rule, the X business has been struggling: advertisers are spending less, regulators are circling, staff is at less than half of what it used to be after huge layoffs, and user numbers have declined.
