(CTN News) – In the past 24 hours, there have been three separate incidents across the occupied West Bank and Gaza that resulted in the loss of six Palestinian lives and left dozens injured, according to statements from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in both regions.

One of these incidents occurred during a Tuesday evening Israeli military operation in the Jenin refugee camp, resulting in the death of four individuals and more than 30 others sustaining injuries, as reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the West Bank.

A resident within the camp, speaking anonymously due to security concerns, informed CNN that a heated gun battle erupted between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants within the camp.

This conflict ensued after the discovery of an undercover Israeli special force unit within the alleys of the Jenin camp on Tuesday evening.

During this confrontation, electricity service to a significant portion of the camp was temporarily disrupted, as mentioned by the resident.

Israeli Military Operations in West Bank and Gaza Result in Fatalities and Tensions

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement indicating that their security forces entered the camp as part of “counterterrorism activity” and encountered armed individuals who opened fire on them.

The IDF noted that their forces responded with live fire and confirmed hits on the assailants.

Furthermore, the IDF reported that a loitering munition (drone) operated by their ground units struck additional assailants who posed a threat to the forces.

During the withdrawal of the forces from the city of Jenin, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated beneath an IDF vehicle.

Security forces conducted a rescue operation for the vehicle during which gunmen fired at them. Hits were identified on the rescue vehicles, but no IDF personnel sustained injuries, according to the IDF.

Videos obtained by CNN on Tuesday evening captured the intense exchange of gunfire within the Jenin camp, with one video showing what appeared to be direct fire targeting a minaret of a mosque within the camp.

In a separate incident on Wednesday morning, a Palestinian man lost his life during an Israeli military incursion in the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp in Jericho.

A joint statement from Israeli security forces revealed that their soldiers entered several villages across the West Bank to apprehend “ten wanted suspects.”

During the operation in the Aqabat Jaber Camp, suspects threw explosive devices at the forces, prompting the forces to respond with live fire, ultimately neutralizing one of the suspects, as stated in the joint statement.

In a separate incident in Gaza on Tuesday afternoon, Israeli fire resulted in the death of one Palestinian man and the injury of several others along the Gaza border fence.

These incidents occurred during the ongoing protests held along the border for the past week. During these protests, demonstrators have been known to throw explosive devices, ignite tires, and at times, fire weapons at Israeli forces situated on the other side of the border.

The IDF issued a statement stating that “hundreds of rioters gathered in a violent riot adjacent to the security fence in the Gaza Strip,” and that “a number of explosive devices were activated by the rioters.”

Escalation of Tensions at Gaza-Israel Border Leads to First Fatality and Calls for U.S. Intervention

The IDF responded by deploying riot control measures and sniper fire, leading to several confirmed hits, according to their statement.

This marks the first fatality caused by Israeli forces during the nearly daily confrontations along the separation fence between Israel and Gaza that have persisted for the past week.

In the previous week, five Palestinians were killed when an explosive device used by the demonstrators exploded on the Gaza side of the fence.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the killings of these six individuals, denouncing them as “crimes of the occupation and extrajudicial killings,” and specifically referring to Israel.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority presidency, called upon the U.S. administration to intervene in the situation.

He emphasized that “the U.S. administration must be fully aware that the region is on the brink of a crisis due to Israeli actions involving killings, destruction, and land confiscation,” and urged the American administration to take immediate action to halt what he described as Israeli recklessness before a larger crisis unfolds, affecting everyone in the region.
