Alex Jones’ Cccount On X Has Been Reinstated In Response To a Poll.
(CTN News) – On Sunday, social media platform X reinstated the account of U.S. conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, following a poll organized by owner Elon Musk that garnered close to 2 million votes.
Musk acknowledged the public’s decision, stating, “The people have spoken and so it shall be.” Approximately 70% of the votes were in favor of Alex Jones’ return.
However, X has not yet responded to a Reuters request for confirmation. Reuters has been unable to verify whether X has indeed reinstated the Infowars account.
Furthermore, immediate contact with Alex Jones has not been established. Currently,
Alex Jones’ account, with the username “@RealAlexJones,” displays his last post from September 6, 2018.
This was the same day that the social media platform, previously known as Twitter, permanently banned his account and website Infowars due to violations of its behavior policies.
Weeks after Apple (AAPL.O), Alphabet’s (GOOGL.O) YouTube, and Facebook (META.O) removed podcasts and channels from Alex Jones, citing community standards, the ban was implemented.
Following Musk’s acquisition of the platform, previously suspended accounts, including that of former U.S. President Donald Trump, were reinstated.
Alex Jones, known for promoting conspiracy theories regarding the Sandy Hook school shooting, was previously ordered to pay nearly $1.5 billion in damages to the victims’ relatives.
He falsely claimed that they were actors involved in a government conspiracy to confiscate firearms from Americans.
