Flooding Costing Billions Nears Subway in Bangkok

 

The death toll in Thailand’s worst floods in half a century, climbed past 500 Sunday, like black pools of water contamination threat advances the subway system in Bangkok and new evacuations were ordered in the sprawling capital

The last district added to the list of government evacuation was Chatuchak, home to large public park and a shopping area outside which is a major tourist attraction. Chatuchak market was open weekend, but there are many vendors and customers on Sunday as water is poured past the eastern edge of the market for a second day.

Evacuations are not mandatory, and most people stay to protect homes and businesses. However, orders to illustrate how far you have progressed in the flooding of the city and the impotence of the government has been to stop it.
