Thai Health Officials Fret Over People Refusing Vaccinations

In Thailand, the Ministry of Public Health has instructed health officials to investigate why so many people are refusing vaccinations against COVID-19, so that appropriate campaign strategies and incentives can be devised to encourage them to get vaccinated.

Members of the public, including foreign workers and particularly the elderly and bedridden, will be able to receive free vaccinations from November 27th to December 5th as part of the ministry’s vaccination campaign.

A free vaccination program is also being offered in Din Daeng by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Dr. Kiattibhoom said that the ministry has adopted the “VUCA” strategy, which emphasizes vaccination, universal prevention, COVID-free settings, and antigen test kits for reopening Thailand’s provinces.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he stated that new infections have stabilized and deaths and severe cases are declining. Despite this, 13 provinces are still being closely monitored.

Khon Kaen, Sa Kaeo, and Nakhon Ratchasima are the three.

Five provinces have 50-100 daily new infections. The provinces are Saraburi, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Kanchanaburi, and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The health officials are now keeping an eye on whether infections will spike and by how much following the Loy Krathong festival when many people traveled and foreigners arrived in greater numbers.
