Locals Fear Indian Man Dead after Being Swept Away in Flash Floods
Officials believe the Indian man tried to ride through strong flood currents of the flash floods and was swept away. Rescue efforts are underway as of Monday evening and will continue until he or his body is found.
BANGKOK -Officials in central Thailand have reported an Indian man missing after he was swept away by flash floods Sunday. Locals conducted a frantic search for him and fear that he may be dead.
The missing man was identified as Nishad Pappu Kumar, who lived legally other Indian nationals in Prachin Buri province.
A friend found black helmet and handed it over to authorities, saying it belonged to Kumar.

Fees Charged to Victims Who Suffered Effects of Floods
Meanwhile, Netizens have complained that flood relief funds raised by Thai Actor Bin Bunluerit are being Siphoned off. Netizens are accusing community leaders of taking a cut from recipients eligible for relief funds Bin has raised.
The donations are for victims who has suffered for the effects of floods in provinces of Northeast Thailand.
A Facebook page called “Nok Krajok” alleges that local leaders were collecting between Bt300 and Bt500 as a “paperwork fee” to victims of flash floods. The flash flood victims are entitled to receive 5,000 baht from the donations.
Local officials were also adding names of residents unaffected by the floods to the donation recipient lists, the page claimed.
Flash floods brought by tropical storms Podul and Kajiki has effected 419,988 households across 32 provinces. Floods have caused 35 deaths, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.
