An Elon Musk Subpoena Was Issued In The JPMorgan Epstein Case

(CTN News) – A subpoena has been served on Elon Musk by the US Virgin Islands in connection with the lawsuit in which they accuse JPMorgan Chase & Co. of benefiting from Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking activities.

According to court papers filed in U.S. territory of Guam, the territory believes Epstein may have recommended or attempted to recommend Musk as a client of JPMorgan to the firm.

Several other billionaires have also been issued subpoenas by the US Virgin Islands, including Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the Google co-founders.

The counsel for Musk, Alex Spiro, did not respond to questions about the subpoena sent by email, but Tesla Inc. Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk tweeted out a response to an article in which he referred to the subpoena as “idiotic.”

There was a request by the USVI on Monday to the judge presiding over the case to allow an alternative method of serving the subpoena on Elon Musk.

This was to be served on April 28.

According to the territory, it made good-faith efforts to locate Elon Musk’s home address, including hiring private investigators, but was unable to do so despite hiring private investigators.

It was also reported that the territory attempted to serve Elon Musk at Tesla’s offices as well, but was not successful in doing so. A subpoena was issued to Tesla by the USVI after the Government requested permission to serve it on Tesla.

In order to comply with the subpoena, the USVI is seeking documents that reflect communications or meetings between Elon Musk and JPMorgan, or between Musk and Epstein concerning their respective accounts at the bank, and which reflect these communications or meetings.

It also wants Musk to hand over any documents “regarding Epstein’s involvement in human trafficking” or any fees that Elon Musk paid to Epstein or JPMorgan in connection with his bank accounts or that he paid to Epstein or JPMorgan in relation to those accounts.

In this case, the defendants are the Government of the Virgin Islands v. JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A., 22-cv-10904, filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (Manhattan), in the case number 22-cv-10904.
