Eleven Thai Teenagers Face Charges after Gang Rape of 25 Year-Old Woman

YALA – Pol Maj Gen Ittipon Atchariyapradit, chief of Yala police, on Friday ordered the arrest of six teenagers accused of gang-raping 25 year-old woman in the Muang district, telling police to handle the case carefully as all suspects were teenagers.
Police are also tracking down five more teen for allegedly colluding in the strong-arm abduction of the victim.
Footage from closed-circuit television cameras showed there were 11 teens involved Pol Maj Gen Ittipon said.
Police interrogated the six youths, but have yet to pressed charges against them as they are looking for the other five first, the Bangkok Post reported.
The arrests came after the 25-year-old woman, a shop employee in Yala municipal area, filed a complaint with Muang police that she had been abducted and then raped by six youths.
The woman said she had been dragged off by a gang of 11 teenagers in front of her boyfriend at a petrol station in Muang district on Thursday night.
She was then taken to a water retention area in tambon Pron of Muang district where she had suffered multiple rape.
