Thailand’s Narcotics Suppression Bureau Announces the Arrest of 11 Suspects in Drug trafficking Cases

BANGKOK – Acting Commissioner of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau Pol Maj Gen Sommai Kongwisaisuk has announced that the bureau arrested 11 suspects from six cases and seized over 1.44 million tablets of amphetamine, 9 kilograms of methamphetamine, 894 kilograms of marijuana, 16.79 grams of heroin, and more than 10 vehicles.
Pol Maj Gen Sommai took command of the anti-narcotics office of the Royal Thai Police in the beginning of October 2016 and admitted that the police are currently facing the crisis of public confidence and must work to enact reforms.

The commissioner stated that the Narcotics Suppression Bureau under his supervision will focus on a proactive approach to wipe out the illegal drug trade. He added that the assets linked to illegal drug dealing must be confiscated and his anti-drug force must perform in a clear and straightforward manner.
As National Police Day is approaching, he urged every police officer to look back, learn from the mistakes and change for the better to improve public perceptions of the police image.
