Polish Man, 25 Arrested for Murdering Ukrainian Girlfriend in Bangkok
BANGKOK – A Polish man, 25, was arrested for reportedly murdering his Ukrainian girlfriend and attempting to dismember her body at a high-rise condominium in Bangkok’s Bang Kolaem area on Monday.
According to Thai Media, Mr. Jan Filippow hailed a cab at the condominium complex on Monday afternoon, seemingly in such a haste to leave that the taxi driver became suspicious.
The driver attempted to make the man wait before informing condominium staff of his suspicious activity.
However, the Polish man directed the taxi driver to take him immediately away from the premises.
The incident was reported to the condominium room owner, who later discovered the death of the 27-year-old Ukrainian woman lying face up in a bed in her room on the 32nd floor.
The body was slashed from the neck to the left shoulder, and the left wrist had been severed. A saw had been left on the bed. The woman had been missing for several days, according to police.
The woman and her Polish boyfriend arrived as vacationers on April 29th, according to condominium personnel.
The suspect paid the taxi driver 1,500 baht to transport him to a location near the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo province, according to detectives.
The suspect was apprehended at the Aranyaprathet border gate in Sa Kaeo while crossing the border into Cambodia, according to Pol Maj Gen Teeradet Tumsutee, investigative chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.
