Iranian Tourist and Three Other Killed in Horrific Accident in Western Thailand

KANCHANABURI – An Iranian tourist and three others have died after a horrific vehicle accident in the western province of Kanchanaburi on Saturday evening.

Police and rescue workers rushing to the scene found a Bangkok taxi and a single-cab pickup truck badly damaged, Pol Lt Chaiya Paiwan, deputy investigation chief at Sai Yok police station said.

Three people were reported dead at the scene while the Iranian identified as Mr. Mojtaba Bakhtiaree and the Pick-up truck driver were rushed to Sai Yok Hospital. The Iranian man died upon arrival.

Three people died at the spot and two others were seriously hurt, they were all trapped in the wreckage of the two vehicles.

Police investigators told the Bangkok Post that the taxi was on the way to send a Thai woman, Miss Kantamanee Konnakhon, 28 and the Iranian tourist to a resort in Sai Yok district. When the taxi struck by the pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.

Police would interrogate more witnesses and the injured man, Korawit Wiphobwatcharakun, 21, to find out the cause of the crash.
