SATHORN – Amid the very serious military coup in Thailand, an even more serious piece of news: Police have nabbed this brazen chocolate thief. He stole 35 candy bars from a 7-11, “for distribution to friends.” At last, the citizens of Thailand can sleep soundly, knowing the candy criminal is off the streets.
Manas Reunwongsa, 33, was arrested by Sathorn police with 35 chocolate bars hidden in his jacket on Wednesday afternoon.
Employees at 7-Eleven’s Suanplu Market store, recognized Manas because they believed he had stolen things from the shop before, police said.
Reportedly spotting him sneaking chocolate bars in his jacket, the manager called the police.
Aware the chocolate-melting heat was on, Manas ran away from the shop before the police arrived. He was arrested not long after on Suan Plu Soi 6.
The man meant to eat the chocolate bars himself and give others away to neighbours, police said.
Manas had been charged with theft four times before and had recently been released from jail. This time he was also under the influence of drugs, Sanook reported.
