CHIANG RAI – The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) has delivered warm blankets and medicine to villagers in Chiang Rai’s Mae Fah Luang district, prepared 3 million doses of influenza vaccine for prevention of the disease in risk groups next year.

The GPO’s board chairman, Sophon Mekthon, said the organization has launched a campaign to help villagers in remote areas to have healthy life during winter, where children, elders, and persons with chronic diseases usually suffer from complications.

The GPO has worked with Chiang Rai Provincial Public Health Office to deliver 1,500 sets of household medicine and warm blankets to villagers.

The Ministry of Public Health is now prepared to handle diseases commonly spread in winter, including influenza, which the GPO has already allocated 3 million doses of influenza vaccine to prevent seasonal infection among young children, elders, and patients with recurring conditions.

The GPO has also stocked up medicine to treat influenza, which should last for at least 5 months under normal conditions. The organization is ready to produce more medicine if needed.
