Tour Bus Accident in Phitsanulok 6 Dead, 42 Injured
PHITSANULOK – A bus carrying 48 members of the Takook Tambon Administration Organisation (TAO) has veered off the road and smashed into a power pole in Phitsanulok’s Wang Thong district, killing Six and injuring 42 early tuesday morning.
According to the Bangkok Post the driver lost control of the vehicle and it ran off the road before hitting the power pole and overturning in Wang Thong district of Phitsanulok about 4.40am.
Six people were killed and their bodies trapped in the wreckage of the overturned bus. Forty-two others sustained injuries and were rushed to four hospitals and 33 of them remained in the hospitals.
Rescue workers retrieved the bodies of the six victims, one of them was identified as Pramual Chaona, chairman of the Takook Tambon Administration Organisation. The driver of the bus was also killed.
Pol Col Thorawat Jaem-udomchot, Wang Thong police chief, said the driver might have fallen asleep.
Prayong Khao-ngarm, 43, who was thrown out from the bus during the crash and slightly injured, said the bus was swaying before hitting the roadside power pole.
The crash comes after a day before, approximately 20 passengers of a tour bus bound for Phrae Province from Bangkok were injured when the bus overturned after the driver reportedly tried to avoid a head-on collision with two racing motorcycles.
The accident took place about 2 am on Monday on a detour route near Wat Wang Hin, Tambon Chomthong, Muang district of Phitsanulok.
