PATTAYA – Mueang Pattaya Provincial Police Station has reported that a 50-year-old Finn decided to end his life. He was found hanged inside his house in Pattaya Friday afternoon.
Mueang Pattaya Provincial Police along with workers of the local rescue foundation, police entered the house of the man inside the Suk Sabai Villa community in Chon Buri’s subdistrict Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district. The woman who had earlier contacted the police lead the officers to the bathroom.
The man, whom his passport identified as 50-year-old Jari Olavi Heikkinen from Finland, was found hanged in front of the bathroom. A nylon rope was wound around his neck whose other end was attached to a wooden beam in the roof.
The Thai woman, who asked not to be named in the media, said she was a friend of Mr Heikkinen and lived nearby. At noon, she saw him intoxicated at the pool in the back of his house. She left and decided to return some hours later.
When she came back at about 17:00, she told Pol Capt Wattana, Mr Heikkinen was not to be seen. She called his name several times and, after nobody responded, asked the manager of the compound to use his spare key to check on him. That’s when the already dead Mr Heikkinen was found.
Based on the facts that no items of value were missing, and there were no signs of a struggle, Pol Capt Wattana concludes Mr Heikkinen had most likely committed suicide. A forensic examination has been scheduled to confirm the cause of death. – Farang Deaths
