22 Year-Old Ugandan Woman Falls to Her Death in Bangkok
BANGKOK – Officers from Rat Burana Police Station in Bangkok are investigating the death of Sharon Hubailah Namakula, 22, a young woman from Uganda who aledgedly jumped to her death from a high-rise building.
Pol Lt Col Bradit Blaiduan reported that they found the body of Sharon Hubailah Namakula, 22, laying dead at Chaeng Ron Canal when officers from Rat Burana Police Station arrived on the scene.
.
Police were told by 30-year-old Briton, Ashley Danniels, that the Ms Namakula was his friend and that they had returned to his rented room no. 344 on the 16th floor of the Suksawat Condominium where he had been living for two months at around 2:00 early Monday morning of October 5th.
“He told us that while he was resting, Ms Namakula received a phone call which seemed to upset her,â€Â Pol Lt Col Bradit said.
She then stood up, went to the window and unexpectedly jumped to her death, police quoted Mr Danniels.
Shocked Mr Danniels, a language teacher at Panyasak School, then rushed downstairs and tried to save the life of the young woman. But all help was too late; she was already dead.
Police inspected the apartment of Mr Danniels and found a black leather bag containing her passport and a pair of white shoes near the condominium’s wall.
Kakensa media in Uganda picked up the story and seems to have reported a different story, saying the person Ms Namakula was talking to on the phone said that the two had heated argument and that police found some nail scratches on the tatoo of Mr Danniels implying that there was a scuffle between the two before Sharon met her death.
Police aparently also found Sharon’s broken extension nails in the room.
Pol Lt Col Bradit said they are now awaiting the autopsy report from Siriraj Hospital where Mr Namakula’s body had been sent to. We will then decide whether we question Mr Danniels further as the investigation continues.
