Cabinet Approved the 5th Phase of the Tourism Subsidy Scheme with a Budget of 2.016 Billion Baht
(CTN News) – Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said Tuesday that the Cabinet approved a 2.016 billion baht budget for the fifth phase of the tourism subsidy scheme.
Phiphat told reporters after the weekly Cabinet meeting that the Cabinet approved the fifth phase of the Rao Thiew Duay Kan scheme and the subsidy budget.
Phiphat said Thai tourists could register for the subsidy next month. According to the ministry, 112,000 people will get subsidy rights, and the program will generate 12.539 billion baht in tourism revenue.
The fifth phase of Rao View Duay Kan will have these conditions:
- The government will subsidize 40% of room rates up to 3,600 baht per night. There will be 560,000 subsidy rights available.
- Tourists can only get five-room subsidies.
- Each subsidy right comes with a voucher for 600 baht to spend on food or services.
- The government won’t subsidize airfare like it did before.
- The ministry hasn’t consulted Krung Thai Bank about how to prepare the Pao Tang app’s system for the latest phase.
- According to the minister, the Cabinet also approved a budget of 1.93 billion baht for tourism promotion.
From the budget, he said 518 million baht would go to foreign markets and 582 million baht to stimulate domestic tourism.
Phiphat said another 445 million baht would go to producing merchandise or organizing tourism-related events, and 385 million baht would go to PR.
