THAILAND – A Russian tourist and his young son were killed and his wife injured in a car crash in Muang district of Prachuap Khiri Khan on Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred in front of a pineapple canning factory on inbound Petchkasem Road in Moo 6 village in tambon Ao Noi about 9am.
Police called to the scene found a wrecked black Toyota Avanza on the side of the road and the dead body of a 34-year-old Russian man about two metres from the vehicle.
The man’s wife, 36, sustained non-life threatening injuries but their two-year-old son was in critical condition. They were rushed to Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital where the toddler succumbed to his injuries, police said.
Witnesses told police that the Avanza careened off the road, smashed into an electricity pole and overturned.
Police said they had difficulty communicating with the wife who spoke little English. As far as they could understand the family set out on a trip from a southern province and was heading to Chon Buri when the tragic accident occurred.
Police suspect the dead man was the driver and may have fallen asleep at the wheel. – See Story Here
