CHON BURI — An French National Mr. Christian Brune has died after his motorcycle was struck by a car in Bang Lamung on Sunday. Police suspect the accident was caused due to an intoxicated car driver
The 67-year-old Frenchman, Mr. Christian Brune, was riding a Honda Click on Sukhumvit Road in tambon Nong Prue heading into Pattaya in the morning when a Toyota Soluna driven by 39-year-old Anek Pokaew, hit him, killing him instantly, Pattaya One newspaper’s website reported.
Pol Lt Col Chalermkiat Sirimark, an investigator at Muang Pattaya police station, said the Phitsanulok native claimed he left Makro and was driving home in the farthest right lane to make a U-turn at Thepprasit intersection when the motorcyclist cut him off, leaving him no chance to stop in time.
The car dragged the elderly Frenchman and his motorcycle for another 50 meters after the crash.
Police are suspicious of the car driver’s story and detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on the man. Khun Anaeg was arrested and taken to Pattaya Police Station for further investigations.
Police would inform the French embassy to contact the deceased’s family
