45 Year-Old Australian Found Dead in his Chiang Mai Condo
CHIANG MAI – Police in the northern province of Chiang Mai are investigating the death of a 45-year-old Australian after he was found dead in his condominium near the city center.
Pol Capt Amonchai Drangwadcharagun, told Thai media that a maid working at at the One Plus Condominium discover his body at approximately 2:30 PM when she smelt a foul odor coming from the his room. After alerting the building manager, they entered the room and found the body of Christopher Vincent Arthur lying motionless on the bed.
The condo manager called Local rescue workers and police to the scene and upon arriving the inspecting officer, Pol Capt Amonchai Drangwadcharagun, said the body of Christopher Vincent Arthur was found face down and there was blood coming out of his mouth and nose.
The smell of decay was almost unbearable he said and there were also several empty Thai whisky bottles in the room.
Forensic police reported there were no signs of a struggle and that heavy drinking might have contributed to Mr Arthur’s death. Police estimated that the man had been dead for not less than a week.
While investigating the case, a staff of the condominium said that Mr Arthur had been renting the room for almost a year. He reportedly spent most of his time alone in his room drinking and using his computer.
Rescue volunteers sent Mr Arthur’s body to Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital where an autopsy is supposed to establish an official cause of death. Mr Arthur left behind his wife Vicky and his children Sophie and Henry.
