(CTN News) – Google, the beloved search engine, marked its 25th birthday with a special doodle on a Wednesday, taking a stroll down memory lane. The doodle featured a GIF that transformed the iconic ‘Google’ into ‘G25gle,’ symbolizing the company’s 25 years of existence, and upon clicking the logo, confetti would cascade on the screen.

In a blog post, Google expressed its sentiments, saying, “Today’s Doodle celebrates Google’s 25th year. And while here at Google we’re oriented towards the future, birthdays can also be a time to reflect.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane to learn how we were born 25 years ago.” The post also noted that while much has evolved since 1998, including the logo showcased in the doodle, the core mission has remained consistent: to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. Google thanked its users for evolving with them over the past quarter-century and looked forward to the future.

Google’s Historical Journey

Google was established by doctoral students Sergey Brin and Larry Page, who crossed paths in Stanford University’s computer science program in the late 90s. They shared a common vision of making the World Wide Web more accessible.

Google’s official birthday is September 27, 1998, but initially, the company celebrated it on September 4 for the first seven years. The shift to September 27 was made to coincide with the announcement of a record number of indexed web pages by the search engine.
